There are many names for this sweet delicacy: Cinnamon Roll, Cinnamon Bun, Sticky Rolls or Sticky Buns. Since the 18th century, they have been a popular, quite sweet and, as the name suggests, sticky breakfast pastry in America. Baked from sweet yeast dough with milk, brown sugar and cinnamon, sometimes with raisins depending on the recipe. White vanilla frosting is a must in my opinion, even if your fingers are sticky afterwards! My personal favorite: Fresh Baked Cinnamon Rolls from an Amish Bakery. If you've got a taste for it, you're welcome to try it. Here is my
- Recipe for the delicious vanilla glaze with our vanilla:
- 2 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 melted teaspoon butter
- 1 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey vanilla
- 2 to 4 tablespoons of milk
Mix in a bowl (spread directly over the warm pastry). Alternatively, I also use the vanilla bean paste, then you can see the black pieces from the vanilla pod. Enjoy!
