On July 4th, American flags decorate the country and in many places people invite people to picnics and BBQs. Of course, fireworks are a must. The most patriotic of all American holidays commemorates the declaration of independence from England and thus the founding of the United States of America. How did this come about? There are many names for this sweet delicacy: cinnamon roll, cinnamon bun, sticky roll, or sticky bun. Since the 18th century, they have been a popular, quite sweet and, as the name suggests, sticky breakfast pastry in America. Baked from sweet yeast dough with milk, brown sugar , and cinnamon, sometimes with raisins depending on the recipe. White vanilla frosting is a must in my opinion, even if your fingers are sticky afterward! My personal favorite: freshly baked cinnamon rolls from an Amish bakery.
